Project: Plastics Europe
About
Plastics Europe (PE) represents the interest of the plastics manufacturing industry in Western Europe at European level and promotes the benefits of plastics.
Brief
As part of World Cup 2006, PE launched a charitable campaign called ‘Kick to Give’ in which web users played a simple penalty shoot-out game. Each unique user was allowed one kick per day; the overall target was 6,000,000 kicks following which PE would donate €250,000 to children’s sports charities across Europe.
Solution
Working with Ellipsis Media and Andy Tonkin (illustrator) a simple but addictive penalty shoot-out game was developed in Flash, using 3D particle coding. Another totaliser movie recorded the overall total kicks; the two movies communicated via Javascript. On 14th December 2006 PE gave a press release acknowledging the six millionth unique kick and duly handed over the cash!
