Project: The World Wide Wall
About
The World Wide Wall is an application built for The Spark Factory, a company specialising in creative process software.
Brief
The Spark Factory developed a method called hot walling, using a wall to share ideas within their creative process. The requirement was to build software that allowed the same hot walling method to take place in multiple offices locations, with one lead creative manager.
Aliform worked both as consultants on the functional specification for The World Wide Wall and developers for the build of the application.
Solution
The Wall is principally a large canvas on which users can post images and comments specific to a project. It can be zoomed and scrolled with additional slideshow and shuffling functionality. A sophisticated permissions matrix allows differing levels of access and control.
The application allows a user to view and edit multiple projects; each project consists of three Wall phases, the final phase being intended for sign-off. Each phase has an adjustable timeline, a forum, and a Wall. Video and text briefs for each project can be uploaded in different file formats and viewed within the interface.
The World Wide Wall has been successfully tested and is already in commercial use in the Middle East; we look forward to further development of the product.
